CAPE COD – JUNE 3/7, 2012
Sunday, June 3
Today we arrive at the Mariner Motor Lodge on CAPE COD. After enjoying a wine and cheese
welcome reception, we visit a nearby restaurant for a delicious dinner.
Monday, June 4
After a hearty breakfast (daily), we drive the scenic Old King’s Highway
along the National Seashore, stopping off en route to PROVINCETOWN, at quaint fishing
villages and harbors. We have time for
shopping and lunch on own in Provincetown, located at the tip of
the Cape.
There are many interesting shops and boutiques to explore in this
thriving artist colony.
This afternoon enjoy an exciting WHALE CRUISE with the Dolphin Fleet,
have your cameras ready to shoot these gentle giants of the deep! This evening feast on a traditional New England Lobster Bake, sure to please even
the heartiest of appetites!
Tuesday, June 5
Today we tour HYANNIS. Highlights will include the
KENNEDY MEMORIAL, overlooking Lewis Bay, where the President
used to sail his
yacht, and the St. Francis Xavier Church, where many a celebrity wedding has
taken place. Also included will be
admission to the KENNEDY MUSEUM, where we see many interesting photos and documents related to the
Kennedy family. Lunch will be on our own
in Hyannis, before we take the short drive to SANDWICH, the oldest and one of the
most picturesque towns on the Cape. We continue to PLYMOUTH, America’s home town, with an
opportunity for a photo stop by the Mayflower II, a replica of the original
boat that sailed the Pilgrims to the New World in 1620. The boat is located by
the famous Plymouth Rock. Dinner again
is included this evening.
Wednesday, June 6
We journey to Woods Hole, and board our ferry, together with our motor
coach, and cruise to the enchanting island of MARTHA’S VINEYARD. Known for it’s
appeal to the rich and famous, including the first family, it welcomes all
tourists. Oak Bluffs is noted for its
Ginger Bread Cottages, located at the Methodist Camp Meeting Grounds. We tour the island, with time for shopping
and lunch on our own in EDGARTOWN. It
was here that the famous movie “Jaws” was filmed! The island has many picturesque beaches and
natural harbors, and lovely whaling captains homes lining the waterfront.
We return on the late afternoon ferry, and this evening
enjoy dinner with entertainment.
Thursday, June 7 – We depart Cape Cod for home, taking with us many fond
memories!
